FAQ

What is a professional organizer?

In practical terms, a professional organizer is a coach, a friend, a confidant, a decision maker, a time saver, and yes, even a money finder.

Who needs a professional organizer?

Anyone who wants to be more organized in their home or work life, home-based business owners, blended families, empty nesters who are downsizing, widowed, seniors; especially those with no local family, collectors, someone thinking or getting ready to sell a home, people with organizational or other challenges such as ADD/ADHD or Bi-Polar Disorder*.

Why do I need professional organizer?

Many people hire a professional organizer when they don't have time or they are just overwhelmed. Some people come to us after trying to "do it themselves" with limited results. Some people hire us to help a loved one because they are out of town.

How long will it take?

That depends. Some projects take a few hours, others several days. Some clients like ongoing support and we work with them on and off throughout the year. Once we get an idea of where you are and what needs to be done, we can provide a better idea of how long it will take.

How much will it cost?

That depends. Sometimes one person handles the project, sometimes we need to bring in a team. Some people make money when using our services, either through estate sales, tax deductions from donations, or found items or documents (sometimes we find valuable jewelry or stock certificates). In most cases, it is worth it in terms of saved time and aggravation, since we can probably do it faster and more efficiently.

Do I need to do anything before we meet?

Not at all. You don't have to clean or try to make neater piles of anything. It's best if we see it like it is. That will make estimating easier and more realistic.

Will I have to throw away things even if I want to keep them?

We help you sort and organize your belongings. We make it easier to make the decision about what to keep.

Do you work with hoarders and have you ever been on that TV shows?

We have been invited several times to be on "those TV shows," But we believe in the dignity of each of our clients. We do not believe in sensationalizing someone's struggles. We believe in helping them to the best of our ability or referring them to the medical professional who can.

* Simplify It, LLC does not employ medical professionals nor do we diagnose or treat medical conditions. We do, however, have experience helping people with ADD/ADHD, Bi-Polar Disorder, depression, or hoarding tendencies. These issues present unique challenges, and we take extra care to help clients feel successful.
